The Scion FR-S Coupe is Ready to Run the Pro/Celebrity Race

Toyota recently revealed the competition version of the Scion FR-S coupe that will be competing in the 37th Toyota Pro/Celebrity race. This is the first time in 27 years that the race has used rear-wheel drive vehicles; 25 FR-S coupes are up to the challenge this year.

All 25 Scion FR-S coupes will use their stock engines and transmissions, but some things will be tweaked by Toyota Racing Development (TRD), which include an airbox, stainless-steel exhaust, coil-over shocks and springs, a big-brake kit with Hawk Performance pads, 18-inch TRD wheels and a Centerforce racing clutch, according to Car and Driver.

For safety, there's a full roll cage, five-point harness, kill switch, fire-extinguisher system and a window net. Toyota says all of the parts included on this version of the FR-S are available to customers directly from dealers.

The Pro/Celebrity race is a 10-lap sprint for charity held at the Grand Prix of Long Beach on April 21, 2013. To see more details about the build of the Scion FR-S coupe, please see the video below!
