Turbocharged Scion FR-S for 2014?

The 2013 Scion FR-S

Automotive news has reported recently that there will be a turbocharged Subaru BRZ in the 2014 model year, which leads us to wonder, will there be a turbocharged Scion FR-S as well? Though the Subaru version of the FR-S only differs slightly from the BRZ, we're unsure of whether or not a turbocharged FR-S will follow.

What Moves You?

Scion posted a new commercial, What Moves You - Motivate (see below). Basically Scion is offering upcoming business owners, entrepreneurs, creative minds and the like to send in their business plan in the change to win a new Scion, connection with industry experts and a bonus $10,000. Here's what they say:

"Scion has been helping artists and musicians with their passions for nearly 10 years. Now it's your turn. 2013 Scion iQ Gets EV Option

Scion iQ Goes Electric for 2013

Earth Techling just announced the debut of the Scion iQ EV in the US for 2013. The iQ EV is powered by a "newly-developed high-output lithium-ion battery," with an estimated range of 50 miles on a full charge, a three-hour charge time and extra charge via regenerative braking.

It has three drive modes that exchange between performance and energy conservation. The interior has a black and white color scheme with accents that are both metallic and ice blue. The iQ EV has a leather-wrapped steering with and a "strongly-contoured center console." A seven-inch display screen in the iQ has an HDD navigation system, audio information and vehicle information.

Here is a video Motorward just posted of Jay Leno in Japan, attempting to drift a Scion FR-S. The video begins with "Drift King" Keiichi Tsuchiya drifting the FR-S, then turns to him partly instructing Jay Leno, but mostly laughing hysterically at his failed attempts. This Popular "Third" Car Has The Highest Non-Hybrid MPGs in the Country

The Scion iQ, which starts at a mere $15,995 is rated the best in combined city and highway miles per gallon in the country among non-hybrid vehicles. But fuel efficiency isn't all it's getting recognized for - the iQ has become increasingly popular among families as their third household car.

I know, strange right? Vice President of Scion Sales Jack Hollis says that the iQ is finding its place among more affluent households, where higher-income families are in the market for a third vehicle.

My question is, for a more inexpensive vehicle, where you're clearly getting bang for your buck, why is this statistic proving true?

Scion iQ Project Museum Spotlights Under-Recognized Musicians

Scion has put together the Scion iQ Project Museum, which aims to spotlight un-recognized musicians, movements and musical communities that they deem to be influential. This "Museum" will be held as a website, that according to Scion, will simply evolve over time, ever adding new talent to its spotlight.

According to the website, "The Scion iQ Project Museum aims to serve as an inspiration for all generations and a resource for the study of contributions to art and culture that might otherwise be lost to time." While visiting the site, the user has the option to simply browse the artists, or they may show support by purchasing items that are exclusive to the Museum.

So far, the Scion iQ Project Museum is home to Prince Paul, Strata Records and LA Chicano Punk, but will eventually be home to many, many more. Click the link to head to the Museum and take a look.

Scion iPhone App by Scion Solutions

This app has been out for a little while, so forgive me if this is no news to you! But it's a great app with helpful features so in case you weren't in "the know" - now you can be.

The app is called Scion Solutions (powered by Toyota Financial Services), and it's available for download on your iPhone or iPad at the iTunes store. All you do is log in with your TFS account and you can schedule payments, view your balance and access your account. As the website says, "now that's convenience on the go!"
